Age groups compete weekly in structured competition, with competition on a Saturday morning starting at 8.30am. We generally have a Twilight competition in the lead up to a long weekend holiday.
- Any given week, each age group will generally participate in 4 or 5 events (this will be dependent on the age group).
- Boys and girls compete separately.
- The age group of U14-17 generally compete together due to a lesser amount of athletes competing but the results are maintained by each age group.
- There will be 17 weeks of regular CLAC competition occurring on a Saturday.
- There will be four different programs that rotate from week to week.
- Depending on which program CLAC is running, the actual events associated with that program will be advertised in our weekly newsletter and on social media.
- The Track and Field (summer) season generally runs from October through to March the following year. We have short break over April and then commence our winter training and Cross Country Season from May through to August, with many of our athletes competing in Bayside Cross Country on a Saturday morning.
- Little Athletics stops over the Christmas break for 2-3 weeks.
- Parent volunteers officiate and coordinate the week-to-week competition throughout the year. It is the obligation of all families registering at Caulfield to nominate for a duty role and complete that role on a minimum of 50% of the meets that your children participates.
- Parents or guardians must be present at training and on competition days.
- Age group managers and assistants will provide technical advice at the weekly competitions (particularly younger athletes/field events).
- Each athlete’s weekly results tally up to club awards at the end of the year.
- At the end of each season, the club will host a presentation day to present end of season awards.
- To be eligible for end of season awards, an athlete must compete in 50% of the available centre programs offered since their date of registration and have returned to the track after the Christmas break.
- Your child’s results at the end of the competition (generally at the end of the day) are uploaded onto Results HQ. You will be required to register an account for your child, whereby you will nominate a username/email address and password.
- By logging into Results HQ, you have the ability to look at your child’s results throughout the calendar year where you can personally keep a track of your child’s personal best achievements for any given event.
- The Little Athletics VIC website contains a lot of information about events and how to run them.
